5.6 million patients across the West Midlands to benefit from connected surgical training

Inovus Medical – the company on a mission to become the world’s partner for surgical training announces the West Midlands Deanery in the UK as the latest regional adopter of LapAR™ – the high fidelity, connected surgical training platform.  

The Deanery which is home to 19 hospital trusts, and a population of 5.6 million people has gained a strong reputation for innovation and surgical educational development and has introduced a number of exciting initiatives across the region. The LapAR™ technology will act as a cornerstone for the creation of the region’s NHS Future Zone based in The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, allowing budding surgeons access to the very latest in surgical innovation.

The forward-thinking surgical educators across the region pooled their resources to equip their trainees with Inovus Medical’s portfolio of simulation devices, focussing on the very latest in connected surgical training they have adopted a total of thirty systems including a number of LapAR™ Pro and LapAR™ take Home systems.

Utilising the LapAR™ Pro and LapAR™ take home, the training providers across the region have been supporting their trainees to participate in the BSGE and RIGS deanery wide training programme, based within the hospitals and remotely with home based, connected surgical training.

“With thanks to funding received from HEEWM for post Covid recovery simulation courses the School of Obstetrics and Gynaecology have been able to purchase a number of high fidelity laparoscopic and hysteroscopic simulation equipment from Inovus.  This has enabled us to host hub based basic, intermediate and advanced simulation training for our postgraduate doctors across the whole of the West Midlands Region.  The simulation models are easy to assemble and additional laparoscopic and hysteroscopic activities can be purchased to assist student learning.  The on-line learning facility available with the high fidelity LapAR™ simulator provides an excellent opportunity for users to log and track their laparoscopic practice”.
