Inovus Medical unveils two new general surgery modules for LapAR platform

17 June, 2025 – Inovus Medical, a global leader in surgical training technologies, has announced the release of two innovative new laparoscopic surgical simulation models: the Mesocolic Dissection Model and the Cholecystectomy Model.

Designed to offer exceptional realism and natural haptics, each model empowers surgeons to learn the key steps of both common and more advanced procedures in a safe and controlled training environment.

The new Mesocolic Dissection Model is tailored to colorectal surgical training and represents the descending/sigmoid colon. The model allows trainees to practice key skills for carrying out anterior resections, left hemicolectomies, and sigmoid colectomies. Surgeons training on the Mesocolic Dissection Model can also use it to identify the inferior mesenteric artery and vein, complete transection and ligation of the vessels, and dissect the colon from the colonic mesentery.

The new Cholecystectomy model allows trainees to safely and repeatedly enhance their ability to identify the critical view of safety, dissect Calot’s triangle, clip and divide the cystic duct and artery, and complete a full gallbladder removal from the liver plate. The advancements add two additional modules to Inovus Medical’s state-of-the-art augmented reality LapAR simulator and its transformative Totum platform, enabling surgeons to track their training as they work to achieve skills mastery.

“These new modules focus on high volume procedures that are critical to general surgical resident training. We are proud to be equipping the next generation of surgeons with the skills they need to perform these procedures with confidence and improve patient outcomes.”
