1. General Guidance
- Always disconnect the simulator from power (if applicable) before cleaning.
- Do not submerge any part of the simulator in water.
- Avoid excessive moisture around electronic components, cameras, or light sources.
2. Routine Cleaning (After Each Use)
- Remove instruments and accessories from the simulator.
- Using a soft cloth or disposable wipe, clean all surfaces of the simulator.
- Prepare a mild cleaning solution using warm water and a small amount of liquid soap, or use an off-the-shelf disinfectant wipe.
- Wipe all external surfaces, including:
- Top cover and outer housing
- Ports and trocars
- Internal workspace (silicone or plastic surfaces)
- For camera lenses, use a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
3. Disinfection
- After cleaning, use either:
- A general household disinfectant wipe, or
- A cloth lightly moistened with a dilute soap-and-water solution
- Wipe all handled areas, including instrument grips and port surrounds.
- Allow surfaces to air-dry fully before the next use.
4. Important Warnings
- Do not use bleach, acetone, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not spray liquids directly onto the simulator, apply to cloth first.
- Do not attempt to sterilise parts using heat, autoclave, or chemical immersion.
5. Frequency
- After every session: Wipe down all surfaces as above.
- Weekly (or more often in high-use environments): Perform a more thorough wipe-down of all internal and external surfaces.
