Hologic Adopts HystAR and Totum to deliver training across Europe

Inovus Medical, a leading supplier of surgical training technologies, announced this week that Hologic has adopted the HystAR hysteroscopy simulator and Totum digital surgery platform to deliver device training and demonstration across Europe.

The HystAR simulator is a high fidelity hysteroscopy simulator that offers surgeons a scalable and reproducible environment for hysteroscopy skills training. Its unique features include natural haptics and the ability to use real medical devices directly with the simulator, which provides an unparalleled level of immersion and realism. Powered by the Totum digital surgery platform, trainee surgeons and their trainers can connect, collaborate, and perfect their surgical skills in real-time.

The HystAR simulator's hub and spoke model enables Hologic to place a high fidelity simulator in the hands of every team member in the field, facilitating scalable, high volume device training and demonstration. This feature allows physicians to learn and perfect surgical techniques using Hologic’s portfolio of hysteroscopy devices, on-demand, reducing the need for expensive training sessions and, importantly, moving the learning curve away from the patient bedside.

“At Hologic, we are very pleased about the international partnership with Inovus to elevate minimally invasive gynecologic surgical training. This will allow us to improve women’s healthcare by educating current & future OB-GYN’s on innovative treatment options for benign gynecologic conditions” – Beatrice Lemberg, Senior Director International Marketing

A major factor for Hologic's adoption was the ability to capture data and insights around their device training activity with the training data being aggregated and viewed in Totum. This feature provides real-time analytics on physician progress and identifies areas of strength and weakness, allowing for personalized and targeted training interventions. Totum allows Hologic’s trainers and faculty to connect with physicians from anywhere in Europe, removing barriers and driving equitable and standardised training experiences for all. The adoption of the platform signals Hologic’s continued commitment to delivering excellence in women’s health.

International Business Manager at Inovus, Jake Connell, said:

Having worked closely with Hologic for a number of years now, we are thrilled to see them adopt Totum and HystAR on this scale. The HystAR simulator and Totum digital surgery platform offer an unparalleled level of realism and interactivity, enabling physicians to develop surgical skills faster and more effectively than ever before. I am confident the actionable insights that Totum will capture will add even more value to Hologic’s excellent device training activities.
