Inovus Medical Launches Revolutionary Operative Guidance Feature in Totum Digital Surgery Platform
Providing World-Class Mentorship to Surgeons Anytime, Anywhere
St Helens, UK, Tampa, USA 5 December 2024 – Inovus Medical, a leader in surgical training technology, is proud to announce the launch of its innovative Operative Guidance feature, now available in the Totum digital surgery platform.
This cutting-edge feature will enhance the training experience for surgeons performing simulated training across Inovus’ ecosystem of high-fidelity simulators. With Operative Guidance, trainees can benefit from world-class mentorship in the form of step-by-step videos, which break down the techniques required to complete each procedure. The feature will be available on every Totum module and is compatible with Inovus Medical’s full suite of LapAR and HystAR simulators.
For the first time, trainees can instantly access insights from experienced surgeons – experts in their fields – at any time of day or night via a comprehensive video library, available globally. Each procedure is accompanied by a series of videos designed to be as engaging as they are informative. Trainees can move at their own pace with each step playing in a continuous loop so each individual can spend as much or as little time as they need perfecting their practice. This new approach removes the geographical limitations built into traditional side-by-side or apprentice style learning methods.
The versatile feature also enables institutions to create their own operative step recordings and immortalise the preferred methodology of a particular region, hospital, or training institution. Reflecting the real-world practices and preferences of each individual institution, these customisation options will make utilising the Totum platform even more impactful.
“We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, accessible training to surgeons worldwide,” said Jordan Van Flute, co-founder and CTO of Inovus Medical. “The new Operative Guidance feature in the Totum platform represents the next step in that journey, enabling surgical teams to provide in-depth mentorship and guidance to trainees, no matter when or where they are practicing. It’s a truly transformative development for the future of surgical education.”
With the new feature, users of the Totum platform can expect:
- Engaging step-by-step guidance: Surgeons can benefit from expert mentorship at every stage of their practice, from basic techniques to advanced procedures.
- Instant and unlimited access to procedure methodology: No matter the time zone or geographic location, trainees can learn from videos recorded by world-class surgeons, expanding the potential for continuous improvement.
- Scalable training: The platform’s unique design is ideally suited to providing surgical education at scale, multiplying the impact of expert instructors.
The launch of Operative Guidance furthers Inovus Medical’s mission to provide surgical training technology that bridges the gap between the classroom and the operating room, preparing surgeons for real-world procedures with the confidence that they have access to mentorship whenever it’s needed.
