Inovus Medical Chairman headlines at Insider, Made in the North-West awards evening

Glenn Cooper, Chairman at Inovus Medical and a DIT Export Champion, was the headline guest speaker at the Insider, Made in the North-West awards evening held at the Lowry Hotel, Salford last month.

The event recognised well-known and innovative businesses from across the region and celebrated the cream of North-West manufacturing who are among the most pioneering and dynamic in the world.

During the evening Glenn shared tales of his past business experiences starting his career as a commercial apprentice at Suffolk Lawn Mowers to his move North and his phenomenal success at ATG Access. The company based in the North-West, saw a 20-year growth under Glenn’s influence taking it from sales of c.£2 million to £24 million, an MBO in 2006 a VC investor in 2013 and an exit to trade in 2019, starting with export sales of virtually nil, exiting with Exports running at c. 50 % of sales.

Glenn commented ‘I was honoured to speak at such a prestigious awards evening it offered me a wonderful opportunity to share my commercial experience with manufacturing champions from across the North-West region. I have always been around Manufacturing- I am not an Engineer! I started a commercial apprentice and I’ve ended up a chairman.

The three most important things to me that have stuck with me throughout my career are People, People, People. Get the people right, the support, process, discipline correct and so much will follow. Did I/ Do I always get it right- NO. People made/make the difference.

My journey as Chairman is just beginning with Inovus Medical using direct sales and the power of the internet we are already exporting to over 70 countries, but “hang on to your hats”. ‘
